summer program details

Summer SMART is designed to make it easy for families to incorporate quality learning into their summer plans, keeping students sharp so they stay ahead in math and English and avoid the summer slide.

Summer SMART is a total of nine weeks, running from Monday, June 19th, to Friday, August 18th. The first week, starting Monday, June 19th, is our annual assessment week.

We offer multiple weekday drop-in windows and students can drop in once each day. We recommend attending the full two hours, but that’s totally fine if you cannot. Here are the drop-in windows:

  • Monday-Thursday: 10-12pm & 3-5pm
  • Friday: 10-12pm

Students may receive instruction in math, English or both. Math focuses on strengthening foundational concepts to improve mastery and retention. English includes reading, grammar, spelling and writing practice, and students complete a timed writing assignment at each visit.

A formative assessment is administered prior to instruction to pinpoint each student’s individual needs so we can personalize his or her curriculum. Most formative assessments will be completed during our annual Assessment Week (6/20-6/25). Half Summer and Full Summer students can take a summative assessment at the end of their instruction. The summative assessment tells us how much a student has advanced.

Curriculum is more than worksheets; it defines what you teach and how you teach it. Our multimodal curriculum includes personalized instruction, rich media content, multi-surface problem solving, intriguing handwritten assignments, timed objectives, fun activities, math strategy, writing structure and more.

We encourage students to visit us regularly to complete their personalized curriculum under the guidance of our expert, friendly staff of educators. Our learning center is an inspiring academic environment, uniquely gifted for summer instruction. During instruction tutors constantly engage with students, providing targeted instruction that keeps them sharp and builds their skills.
